| Inspired by Mother Africa I wanted to paint a portrait that reflected the texture and vitality of the cradle of civilization. The intermingling, vibrant colours are distinct on the canvas but mingle peaceably with each other. This picture is about and dedicated to the people of Earth and the oneness we all are. |
Muted, soft textures blend together on this canvas inspired by the hopes and dreams I have for the wonderful people around me and the people I meet every day who inspire me. The colours do not clash and every line is both distinct and aided by the colours and textures around them. It shows the passage of time, coming from the ground and forever reaching towards the stars. |
I painted this at a dark point in my life unable to find inspiration anywhere. In this picture I see both my greatest pain and my greatest joy. Many people see different things in this portrait and I invite you to examine it and find what you see in it. I think that what people find in this painting really reflects something interesting about themselves. |

Artwork 6 : Chrysalis
Medium : Acrylic
Price : $10,000 USD |
| I was inspired by the simple brilliance of the Way of the Tao. I was reminded of a quiet evening on the coast of Japan staring across the sea straining to see China. This expresses my appreciation of the simple elegance of Chinese art and architecture and my longing to someday go there. |
I was staying in New York’s Chinatown during Chinese New Year. I didn’t know until the festival parade passed by my hotel window. I stood at the window and watched the dragon dancers twist and ebb in the street beneath me. From above I could not see the dancers, only the top of the dragon, dancing joyously in the street below me. I painted this to reflect the ecstatic beauty of the moment. |
I love butterflies. I find them fascinating and calming. I remember learning about butterflies and their maturation process in school and find it a beautiful and enigmatic arc. I feel like I have gone through my own maturation process in the past few years and painted this to express my own chrysalis and my own maturation into the person I am today. |

Artwork 9 : Sentinel Dance Hall
Medium : Acrylic
Price : $7500 USD |
| On August 1, 2009 I was backstage at the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta, Canada when a sudden windstorm ripped through the festival collapsing the stage, killing one and injuring dozens of others. I was fortunate to escape without injury but many others weren’t as lucky. I did this painting over the course of a few days afterwards as I ruminated on the experience. This painting is dedicated to the memory of Donna Moore who lost her life in this tragedy. |
I love Jamaica. The people, the atmosphere, the geography, the food. I painted the sensation of the ocean. The sensation of sand between your toes. The smiles of people passing you in the street. The hot scent of spiced chicken and fish on the breeze. This is my celebration of Jamaica, its people and its history. |
A few hours from my hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, there is a small town called Sentinel on a lake. At the lakeshore there’s an old, abandoned dance hall and every time I drive past Sentinel I like to go down to the lake and see if the hall is still there. This painting evokes the feelings of a young man at his first dance at the Sentinel Dance Hall back in the day. It is a giddy, slightly dizzy and wholly happy painting. |

| I was inspired by the colours of a Pacific sunset and the emotions I associate with those experiences. I wanted to bring the ebb and flow of water and the sensation of watercolour into the painting and so painted the picture with a heavy dose of paint and then streamed water into it, collaborating with the ocean herself. |
